Bring on the Camels! A New Krewe Will Debut in 2026!

May 1 2025

Carnival season will start a little earlier in 2026. The Mystic Kings Krewe will roll on January 5, 2026, one day before Twelfth Night. The krewe’s name draws inspiration from the biblical story of the wise men who followed the star to Bethlehem and were actually en route on Epiphany Eve.

The parade will feature kings on camels, Mardi Gras Indians, jesters carrying satin and fringe banners, spectacular costumes, and new floats designed with sustainability in mind.

According to their website, this will be "a procession like no other in the history of Mardi Gras in New Orleans." While  the officers of the Mystic Kings Krewe cannot reveal themselves, the social club was founded by a renowned designer who has created floats for many New Orleans and Alabama krewes, as well as for Disney and the Rose Parade. Founding members include riders of Thoth, Druids, Tucks, Freret, Bacchus, and more.

The route, which includes parts of the French Quarter, was approved by the city council earlier this year.

Check out the krewe’s website for more information and follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
